Because Prince Alexander defeated the Swedes on the Neva River on July 15, 1240, he is called Alexander of the Neva (Nevsky). At this event appeared Boris and Gleb (the first Russian Saints). When he was captured once by the Tatars, he refused to sacrifice to their gods. Even the Khan of the Tartars admired him, because of his wisdom, strength and beauty. Alexander built many churches and accomplished many good deeds.
